author's assistant / not so crazy

McGucket has shown method to his madness. For example, in Headhunters, he asks if the wax figures are alive, which they turn out to be.

In Bottomless Pit - Voice Over, we hear another strange quote from McGucket: "You can run, but I'll still be in your nightmares!!!!!"  Strip this quote of its context and McGucket could be Bill Cipher.

In Land Before Swine, McGucket manages to fix Dipper's lantern in a very short amount of time. He seems to still have some tinkering skills.

Following the commercial break, McGucket has a moment of disguised genius, much like the ones Soos has. He distracts the pterodactyl, possibly knowing that he could eat his way out and hoping to sacrifice himself to save everyone else.

In The Golf War's end card, there was some foreshadowing to Society of the Blind Eye: "Old man sleeping on the green, can't help but wonder what he's seen."

McGucket is known to wear a band-aid on his chin, and there was a band-aid on the laptop. I didn't believe this meant anything at first, but I still thought the clues added up to McGucket. Of course, after Society of the Blind Eye, all that changed, but it's still interesting. Obviously that's not the same bandage; we were just looking for evidence that McGucket was the author. The McGucket hoax, like the Blind Eye Society, pulled the wool over our eyes.

McGucket, obviously, worked on the portal with the author. I say the author was Stanley Pines and the two worked together from summer 1981 until July 4, 1982. The graphs behind McGucket in his memories also show that, as we had suspected, the portal grows more unstable over time. And in McGucket's final memory, he mentions (in atbash code) Bill! Cipher! Triangle! It proves that Bill has encountered McGucket at least 2 years AFTER he started erasing his own memory.

Misc

Apparently, Old Man McGucket can smell cash, as shown in Double Dipper. His "dream come true", as shown in Little Dipper, is to win $10 million. He may have had a personality similar to Stan's before he went insane.

In The Time Traveler's Pig, a baby in the pioneer family is seen with a Band-Aid on his chin, in the same spot as McGucket's Band-Aid on his beard. Some people think the baby is McGucket, but I don't think so because nobody lives to 150 anymore. This is further compounded by the fact that Band-Aids were not invented until the 20th century, and there's no way the pioneers should've been passing through that late.

In MGT Fashion, McGucket says something very odd. He says that backwards is the way his body naturally wants to move.
