Ready Baby?

A guide to where babies come from

An obvious reference to the scene from Carpet Diem...but...Mabel couldn't stand that book.

Soos finally fixed up the laptop.

Did Soos do something to the laptop so that Dipper couldn't get into it? Maybe he added a password...

band-aid on laptop

Now, who else wears a band-aid? Every clue seems to point to McGucket. But, as we know now, Alex and his crew managed to fool their entire fanbase. Unless, of course, the McGucket hoax was a hoax in and of itself, in which case... they still fooled the entire fanbase.

laptop opening sequence

I believe this sequence tells us about what the portal does. I have yet to know what some of the symbols mean, but it's pretty clear that the triangle symbol at the end is linked with the portal.

We're close to something big here. I can feel it.

Two things. First off, that's probably why Bill did not want Dipper finding out the secrets on the laptop. In fact, he says that later in the episode. Second, I can't figure out how Bill made himself invisible, but his shadow was still seen. Although, we don't know much about this odd triangular being, so I guess he could do that.

black and white

When Bill makes his official season 2 debut, the sky turns black and white, just like it did when Bill talked to Gideon...and outside in Stan's mindscape.

What's your sister done for you lately?

If you look closely, every Gravity Falls episode, or almost every one, has a moral. But some are easier to find than others. This one is easy to find, but it subliminally cements Bill's role as not just a villain, but an antagonist in his own right. Before, he was really just Gideon's agent; now, he's the full-fledged antagonist.

Key: Cipher

They are getting so tricky. This time, the keyword is seen when Bipper is looking at himself...in the mirror. Yes, it's written backwards.

You've been getting way too close to some major answers.

So, this proves that the laptop, had Dipper cracked the password, would have given him all the answers he was looking for.

I've got big plans coming and I don't need you getting in my way.

A constant theme for this season so far has been the people who are "in" on the Gravity Falls conspiracy saying they don't need Dipper getting in the way and messing everything up.

Destroying that laptop was a cinch. Now I just need to destroy your journal!

What Bill is saying here is that there were two ways for Dipper to get all the answers: the laptop and the journal. Plus, by destroying the journal, he could effectively block anyone else from opening the portal. Then, if Stan's portal was closed and shut down, nobody could ever open it again. According to my timeline, the masterminds behind building the portal included Stanley (who was kidnapped by Bill) and McGucket. I've decided that for this theory to work, Bill has big plans in his universe, and he doesn't want humans coming to mess them up.

Radio device

Unless you watched Vailskibum94's video on the subject, you probably didn't catch the radio-like device between the floorboards of the Mystery Shack. It's shown for a split second as Ghost Dipper goes downstairs. It has the symbol of the bald eagle with the magnifying glass, which is the symbol for the government agents. Vail believes it to be a listening device of some kind, so Powers and Trigger can listen in on the conversations at the Mystery Shack.
