Little magic men! What does it mean? What do I do?
As Lazy Susan backs away to call the police, you may notice that the telephone has the blind eye symbol on it.
It's unbelievable! It's indescribable! It's...
I would be wondering why the cops didn't show up to investigate the missing woman, but I know the cops are Blubs and Durland. So...yeah.
Dipper's "Who is the author?" board
Honestly, it looks like something a fan of the show would put together. It's like Alex took all the evidence the fans were using and put it into the board. This is most evident when Dipper is connecting the evidence to McGucket. Noticeably, Dipper has circled every instance of the letter F, most likely due to the laptop saying "Property of F." I also noticed at least one article from the Gravity Falls Gossiper. This could be foreshadowing Toby Determined's membership in the Blind Eye Society, BUT if that was true, why would he publish articles that would help someone solve the mystery?
The suspicious townsfolk included:
McGucket (caption: not likely)
an old guy (caption: weird stache?)
the Summerween superstore worker (caption: hates us)
Shmipper (the kid who looks like Dipper from The Legend of the Gobblewonker)
the Lefty robot (caption: exploded)
Lazy Susan
Toby Determined
2 unknown people (caption on one of them is "What?")
Alex Hirsch (caption: Who?)
Old Man McGucket wrote the journal?!?!?
This is very interesting because Dipper says "journal," as opposed to "journals."
Rappers are visionaries, Wendy. If they told me to eat my own pants I would do it.
OK, I have a couple of comments here. First, that whole issue of Soos's secret smarts. Sometimes Soos looks like the smartest person on the planet; other times he looks like the dumbest. Second, Soos has obviously heard this song before. So, it's more than convenient timing that causes him to eat his own pants. And third...what?
Gravity Falls Junk Yard
It's a real dump!
Mc Suck It!
Took me 11 seconds to get the joke, but man, they got him good! And are you sure this is a Disney toon?
Dude, you're the genius Dipper's been searching for all summer.
I love how this episode was put together. It really helped to humanize McGucket. Instead of the crazy hillbilly we've seen in the past, we now see him as a human being. It's a theme that's shown throughout the entire series and especially the second season.
Everythin' before 1982 is just a blur.
Two things here. First, this quote drops a BIG hint about the backstory of Gravity Falls. Something big happened in 1982, which caused McGucket to erase his own memory. I have my theories on this, but you'll have to read the entire next paragraph.
It's very interesting to note that while McGucket is saying this, Dipper is flipping through pages in the journal. One of the pages he shows is now famous. It shows lots of schematics and drawings of parts of the portal, but the one thing that catches everyone's eye is an image in the center of the page. It shows two people holding a third on a rope, while throwing him into the portal. The most common theory, and the one that I believe, is that the two people are Stanford and McGucket and the third is Stanley. Unfortunately, something went wrong, and Stanley got trapped on the other end of the portal.
Another note: on the Blindeye page, there is a code that says "If my suspicions are correct, this is the work of Fiddleford. Does he really have to go to such great lengths to forget?" Now, this proves that the author was still around when the Blindeye was invented. Notice, however, that it does not say anything about the Blindeye Society.
