I think this can was opened recently.

Although quickly abandoned, this quote shows that there might be someone down here. Maybe the bunker is connected in some way to Stan's lab. Or, it could have just been the shape shifter.

map of Gravity Falls

I want you to notice: that map was from...get ready for a shocker...1982!

Was this place built in the past or the future?

It's a tangent, but Wendy may be on to something. We know that time travel is definitely possible.

I'd just embarrass myself and then I'd be another guy she hates, like Robbie.

There's a subliminal message in here. Dipper really is smart. But that's not to say he's perfect. And, it helps advance the plot of Dipper dealing with his crush, and them being just friends.

This is for your own good.

Mabel had good intentions here. She saw her brother's poor social skills at work and decided to help him. But the fact is, this was the wrong time and place. The bunker is a dangerous place. Sure, it advanced the plot of the episode, but in the meantime, it put Wendy and Dipper in danger. And really, Mabel handled the situation poorly. She forced Dipper and Wendy into the closet and refused to let them go. That's not a good way to help.

Shadow fight scene

We see what appears to be a man fighting a monster in the shadows. I did not pick up on this the first time I watched the episode. The man and the monster are both part of the shapeshifter. Remember, he can take ANY form he has seen, including two forms at once.

I scared it off but it'll regenerate.

Now why would the shape shifter (as the author) say this? He couldn't keep up the author act forever; obviously, he was going to reveal his true identity shortly afterwards. But why? What was his plan?

Experiment #210

"The shape shifter" became too dangerous! Placed in cryogenic stasis.

We just heard from the "author" that the shape shifter broke free from a cage of solid steel. Something isn't right. And if the real author placed it in cryogenic stasis, as did the Pines, then will the shape shifter escape again?

You know Dipper's jokes are terrible!

I don't get many non-mole-people visitors.

Mole-people apparently live down here. Remember, the shape shifter doesn't know where Dipper and Wendy have been. He would have had to tell the truth somewhat. The mole-people might be an interesting antagonist someday.

Leave that to Mabel.

This is the second time we see Mabel's sweater doing something. I hope we see more of this later on.

Baron Num Nums High Flyin' Beans

The first time, I did not see this. The bean mascot could not be the author. Therefore, it could only be the shape shifter.

That six-fingered nerd hasn't been himself in 30 years.

This quote has already received a lot of time under the microscope. We now know that, assuming the shape shifter was telling the truth, the author was male, had six fingers, and "hasn't been himself in 30 years." I think Stanford, Stanley, and McGucket all fit the bill. According to my new timeline, on July 4, 1982 (30 years ago), Stanford and McGucket lowered Stanley into the portal, but McGucket made a miscalculation and trapped him in a distant universe. This is when McGucket decided to use his memory erasing device on himself. Stanford would have also changed drastically on that day, dealing with a tragic loss.
