Wendy's words to Dipper

Wendy is fighting the shape shifter. The two both talk to Dipper, but in very different ways. The shape shifter is saying "Give me back  that journal" and "it belongs to Dipper." The real Wendy is talking directly to Dipper, saying that the other is the shape shifter. This is odd because I would think it would be the other way around. But hey, this is Gravity Falls. We have to expect anything.

Shape shifter's last speech

"You think you're so clever, don't you Dipper? But you have no idea what you're up against. You will never find the author. If you keep digging, you'll meet a fate worse than you can imagine. And this will be the last form you ever take!"

I'm going to say, use your own brain on this one. There are so many theories out there about this quote, and I just can't see any of them being plausible.

Dipper and Wendy's last conversation

Fans, take note of this. Wendy just friend zoned Dipper in the nicest way possible. If you are going to tell someone that romance is not an option, do it like this. First, let them know it's OK. Next, tell them why you are rejecting them. Explain it very politely. Then reassure them that you can still be friends. And make them feel better about themselves. I love the way this episode did it because they were actually able to have a realistic conversation. They played off of each other's comments and listened to each other. It sounded unscripted, straight from Dipper and Wendy's hearts.

the laptop

The sticker on top of the laptop says "Property of F". As many theorists have pointed out, the only person so far whose name we know starts with an F is Fiddleford H. McGucket. But the question you should be asking is, why would McGucket need to label his things? The only reason we label things is to tell others that they belong to us. Who else would have seen his laptop? It's more evidence for my theory that he wrote the journals along with the Stan twins.

I should also point out that it is zoomed in on at the very end of the episode. So far, every time they've ended an episode on a mysterious tangent, it's been important. As we learn in Sock Opera, the laptop has clues on it, but they are not revealed because Bill destroys the laptop. But that's a topic for that episode.

Update: we are now 99% sure that the laptop belonged to McGucket, thanks to Society of the Blind Eye.

Attack of the Exclamation Points!!!!!!

I came up with a sequel for that. Attack of the Exclamation Points 2: Punctuation Situation!!!!!!

What kind of disaster indeed

This is the credits cryptogram. The keyword is Shifter.

Improper use of machinery could lead to utter catastrophe.

This is the cryptogram on the last frame. It, like all others in S2, is decoded with these ciphers: A1Z26, then Atbash, then Caesar set 3 letters back.
